General
Scoring / Gameplay
Fouls
Overtime
- Teams must be at their court 5 minutes before game time or forfeit may result.
- Each team will be guaranteed a minimum of 3 games. Tournament format may vary by division based on the number of teams entered. For the divisions that have an A and B bracket, double elimination will apply throughout those A and B brackets (similar to other divisions), but won’t apply in the final A versus B championship game.
- Teams may consist of 3 or 4 players.
- Officials and scorekeepers will be provided for all games. There may be rare instances where scorekeepers will need to be supplied by teams.
- No stalling is permitted.
- Players may only appear on one team roster.
- Coaches will be allowed to make substitutions during games. NO coaching during the game. NO timeouts except for injury.
- No jewelry is to be worn during play (earrings, necklaces, bracelets).
- Any unsportsmanlike conduct will result in dismissal. This includes, but not limited to excessive complaining to the referee, rough play and abusive language.
- The tournament may refuse any participants entry for any reason.
- Referees decisions are FINAL.
Scoring / Gameplay
- Coin flip will determine first possession of each game.
- Games will be played to 11 points, win by 1, or a 15 minute time limit. Each basket counts as 1 point. 3 point shot counts as 2 points.
- Ball must be “checked” and then “passed, dribbled or shot in” after each basket scored and any dead ball. Ball changes possession after each basket scored. “Make it take it” rule does not apply.
- With each change of possession, ball must be taken back anywhere behind the 3 point line. Both feet must be behind the 3 point line.
- In a Jump Ball scenario, possession goes to the defense.
Fouls
- All fouls will be called by referees. Fouls result in possession at the top of key, with “check” and then “pass, dribble or shoot into play”.
- 7th team foul will result in a free throw plus possession (if made), otherwise live ball. Ball must hit the rim.
- With a made basket on 7th foul, the basket counts and same team retains possession. There will be no additional free throw.
- Flagrant and intentional fouls called by the referee will result in a free throw attempt and the team retains possession of the ball.
Overtime
- In case of a tie after regulation, a 2 minute OT will be played.
- Possession in OT determined by coin flip. First team in OT to reach 15, or be up by 2 wins.
- If a tie remains after OT, teams will shoot free throws to determine the winner. The 3 players on the floor at the end of regulation will alternate shooting the free throws. The winner of a coin flip will have the choice of shooting first or second. Each team must have the same number of attempts. If player 1 from Team A shoots first and makes the free throw, player 1 from Team B gets a chance to make a free throw. If team B makes the free throw, then the second player from both teams attempt. If Team B misses the attempt, team A wins the game. If Team A shoots and misses and Team B makes the free throw, Team B is the winner.
